The Pimp Punch is a two-ounce pour stretched across six ounces of Sprite, which makes it the mildest drink you are likely to find with punch in the name. It is a highball in everything but label, and it goes down like fruit soda with a small amount of intent behind it.
The currant vodka is what keeps it from being generic. Black currant has a deep, slightly tart berry character that reads differently from the raspberry schnapps sitting next to it, and the two together give the drink more depth than a single berry flavor would. The Sprite lifts the whole thing and keeps it dry enough to drink in quantity.
Glass: Collins glass | Strength: Light | Serves: 1 | Prep Time: 2 minutes
Bartender’s tip: Pour the Sprite last and pour it down the side of the glass against the ice. Dumping it straight in kills the carbonation immediately, and with a drink this light the fizz is most of what you are drinking. Build it in the glass, do not shake it. If it comes out too sweet for you, the raspberry schnapps is the culprit rather than the soda, so cut it to a half ounce and add a squeeze of lime to bring the tartness back.
