Profile
Pink Panties is a party pitcher dressed up as a single drink. The recipe calls for a full cup of Canadian whisky, a cup of water, a whole can of frozen pink lemonade concentrate and a cup of whipping cream, blended with crushed ice. That is enough for four tall glasses, not one, and it is best treated that way.
Blended, it lands somewhere between a boozy lemonade and a milkshake. The concentrate brings the color along with plenty of sugar and tartness, the cream rounds everything into something smooth and pale pink, and Canadian whisky is a sensible base because it is light and a little sweet on its own and does not fight the fruit. Bourbon would push through more and change the character of the drink.
Cream and lemonade sounds like a risky pairing, and it can separate if it sits around, so this is one to pour straight from the blender and drink while it is cold and frothy.
Glass: Collins glass | Strength: Medium | Serves: 4 | Prep Time: 5 minutes
Bartenders tip: Keep everything as cold as possible before it goes in the blender. The concentrate should come straight from the freezer and the cream straight from the fridge. Blend only until smooth, since overworking the cream starts to whip it. The original calls for half a container of whipping cream, which in a standard pint carton works out to about a cup. If the batch comes out too thick, a splash more cold water loosens it without costing much flavor.
