Profile
Witch’s Brew looks exactly like something bubbling in a cauldron. Blue curaçao and yellow Chartreuse mix into a murky potion green, and a pinch of ground allspice, cloves and nutmeg gives it a warm, spiced finish. A splash of brandy rounds out the base, and it is all shaken cold and strained into a chilled glass.
This is a strong, sweet, herbal drink, so treat it like a nightcap rather than something to sip all party long. Yellow Chartreuse brings honey and a long list of herbs, the curaçao adds bright orange sweetness, and the spices tie it to the season. It is a fun one for Halloween, when a green drink with a little mystery is exactly the point.
Glass: Cocktail glass | Strength: Strong | Serves: 1 | Prep Time: 3 minutes
Bartenders tip: Double strain through a fine mesh strainer so the ground spices do not leave grit in the glass. Go easy on the cloves, since a little goes a long way. For a lighter, less boozy version, cut the Chartreuse to one ounce and top with a splash of soda.
