Profile
Candy Corn is a layered shot built to look exactly like the famous Halloween candy: a golden yellow base, a bright orange middle and a creamy white top. Licor 43 goes in first, then orange curaçao, then a float of cream, each one poured slowly so the colors stay in clean, separate bands.
It tastes a lot like the candy too. The Spanish vanilla liqueur brings sweet vanilla and citrus, the curaçao adds a bright orange note, and the cream rounds it all off into something close to a creamsicle. It is sweet, smooth and one of the easiest ways to make a Halloween party look like you tried.
Glass: Shot glass | Strength: Medium | Serves: 1 | Prep Time: 3 minutes
Bartenders tip: The secret to clean layers is a slow, steady pour over the back of a bar spoon held just above the last layer. Chill all three ingredients first, since cold liquids layer more cleanly. Use heavy cream rather than milk so the top layer floats instead of mixing in. If you are making a tray for a party, pour all the yellow layers first, then all the orange, then all the cream.
Steps
- Pour the Licor 43 into a shot glass.
- Slowly layer the orange curaçao on top by pouring it over the back of a bar spoon.
- Finish with a layer of cream, poured the same way, and serve.
