Profile
Devil’s Blood is a big, blood-red party punch made for crowds. Vodka, white rum and hard cider are mixed with cranberry and apple juice in a bowl full of ice, then ladled out into cups and sipped through straws. It is fruity, tart and easy to drink, which is exactly what makes it dangerous.
Do not let the juice fool you. With a full bottle’s worth of spirits split between the vodka and rum, plus the cider on top, this punch packs far more of a kick than it tastes like it does. The cranberry gives it that deep red color and a tart edge, the apple juice softens it, and the cider adds a light, crisp fizz. It makes enough for about 20 servings, so it is built for a Halloween party rather than a quiet night in.
Glass: Punch bowl | Strength: Strong | Serves: 20 | Prep Time: 10 minutes
Bartenders tip: Label it clearly, especially if kids or non-drinkers are around, because it looks just like fruit punch. Use one large block of ice instead of cubes so it melts slowly and does not water the punch down. Add the cider last so it keeps a little fizz. For a milder version, cut the rum in half and top up with extra apple juice.
