Profile
Gin, blackberry brandy, banana liqueur and heavy cream is an unusual set of things to find in one glass. The gin is the surprise, since a creamy fruit drink like this would normally be built on vodka or rum, and juniper against blackberry and banana is not a combination anyone would arrive at by reasoning.
It works better than it reads. Blackberry brandy is dark, sweet and jammy, the cream flattens it into something closer to a dessert, and the gin botanicals cut back through the middle and stop the whole thing collapsing into syrup. Three ounces of spirit under an ounce of cream also means this is considerably stronger than it tastes, which is worth knowing before the second one.
Glass: Cocktail glass | Strength: Strong | Serves: 1 | Prep Time: 4 minutes
Bartenders tip: Frost the glass properly, which means the freezer and not just a rinse of cold water, because a creamy drink in a warm glass goes wrong quickly. Shake harder and longer than feels necessary to get the cream fully integrated with that much liqueur. A London dry gin holds up here where a softer modern style would disappear. Cut the banana slice thin and drop it in at the last moment, since it browns fast once it meets air.
