Profile
Bacardi Limon is white rum infused with lemon, lime and grapefruit, and it was made for drinks exactly like this one. Pair it with sour mix and a splash of cranberry and you get something that tastes like a rum lemonade with a berry edge.
The sugar rim is the detail that makes it work. Only half an ounce of cranberry goes in, so the drink itself is tart rather than sweet, and the sugar on the rim supplies the balance a sip at a time instead of dissolving into the glass. That is a better piece of construction than the ingredient list suggests, and it is the same logic behind salting a margarita.
Glass: Cocktail glass | Strength: Medium | Serves: 1 | Prep Time: 4 minutes
Bartenders tip: Rim only half the glass so you can choose each sip. Wet the rim with a lemon wedge rather than water, since the juice makes the sugar taste of something. Chill the glass properly before rimming, because sugar slides off a warm glass. If you cannot find Bacardi Limon, plain white rum with a squeeze of lemon and lime gets you most of the way there.
