Profile
The Pink Drink is named with all the imagination of a recipe that knows exactly what it is. A full ounce of grenadine against an ounce of milk and an ounce and a half of assorted spirits, topped with whipped cream, which puts this squarely in dessert territory.
Galliano is the ingredient doing the heavy lifting and the reason this is more interesting than it sounds. It is a golden Italian liqueur built on vanilla and anise with a long list of herbs behind them, and that vanilla note against milk and pomegranate is essentially a cream soda. Cointreau adds orange, which pomegranate takes happily. An ounce of grenadine is a serious pour though, and it makes this sweeter than most people will want.
Glass: Cocktail glass | Strength: Light | Serves: 1 | Prep Time: 3 minutes
Bartenders tip: Cut the grenadine to a half ounce unless you have a real sweet tooth, and the drink improves immediately without losing its color. Shake hard, because milk and grenadine need help combining and will otherwise streak. The squirt of cream on top means the aerosol kind, and there is no point pretending otherwise given what this drink is. Serve it immediately, since milk drinks go unpleasant as they warm.
