Profile
Pink Pitch is built around Licor 43, the Spanish liqueur flavored with citrus, vanilla and a long list of other botanicals. It claims forty-three ingredients, hence the name. Here it is the lead, poured at twice the volume of the vodka and blended with milk and a touch of grenadine into something close to a vanilla milkshake with a fruity blush.
The proportions are what make it work. Licor 43 is sweet and vanilla-heavy, the milk softens it and adds body, and the vodka gives the drink some backbone without competing for flavor. The half centilitre of grenadine is really there for color, turning the drink a soft pink rather than the pale gold Licor 43 gives on its own. Blending on low speed keeps it smooth and a little frothy without whipping in too much air.

Bartenders tip: Chill the cocktail glass properly before you start, since there is no ice in the finished drink to keep it cold. If you do not have a blender handy, a hard shake with ice and a fine strain gets you nearly the same result. Whole milk is the right call here, as skim leaves it thin and watery. The cherry is the classic finish and suits the dessert feel of the drink.
