Profile
The Caramel Apple is a two-ingredient shot that tastes just like the fairground treat. Butterscotch schnapps and sour apple schnapps are shaken cold and strained into a shot glass, where the rich, buttery caramel and the tart green apple come together surprisingly well.
It is sweet, easy and very popular at parties, especially in the fall. The sour apple keeps the butterscotch from getting cloying, and the result tastes more like candy than liquor, which is part of its charm and part of its danger.
Glass: Shot glass | Strength: Light | Serves: 1 | Prep Time: 2 minutes
Bartenders tip: Shake it hard with plenty of ice, since both schnapps taste best very cold. For a party, mix a batch in a bottle and keep it in the freezer. A tiny slice of green apple on the rim of the shot glass makes a nice finishing touch.
