Profile
The Pumpkin Eater takes its name from the old nursery rhyme and its color from the season. There is no pumpkin in it, but light rum, orange curaçao, triple sec, orange juice and a splash of cream blend into a thick, creamy drink the exact shade of a jack-o’-lantern.
It tastes like a boozy creamsicle. The two orange liqueurs and the fresh juice bring a big, bright citrus flavor, the cream turns it smooth and dessert-like, and the rum keeps it grown-up. Blended with ice, it has a frosty, milkshake texture that makes it an easy crowd-pleaser at a Halloween party.
Glass: Cocktail glass | Strength: Medium | Serves: 1 | Prep Time: 3 minutes
Bartenders tip: Use about a cup of ice for a thick, spoonable texture, and add a little more orange juice if it gets too thick to blend. A pinch of pumpkin pie spice on top makes it look and smell even more seasonal. For a party, blend a big batch and keep it in the freezer for up to an hour before serving.
